While visiting the Basilica of St. John Lateran there is a big Obelisk out the back (Roman obsession with Egypt) and looking past it I noticed a building that had ruins merged into its roof top! At first I thought this was some mistake, or simply a visual depth problem, so I moved closer and the building was indeed moulded around the ruins. I imagine due to the size of the ruins it was impractical to remove them first before building the house, but it does make me curious, how far down and back do the ruins go into that house?
