This is a collection of front doors from one back street in Rome which I took one
morning while wandering around. I was surprised to find so many different styles
of doors next to each other in one street. Whether it is the quantity of the materials
used (wood, stone or metal) or the overall shape, each doorway had a unique
character that is so often missing from modern day buildings.
I am sure most people will think I am crazy for taking so many pictures of front
doors, but we often miss the unique things surrounding us. It is so easy
to forget that even man made environments can feel unique when erroded and changed over
time. Each doorway has a story to tell of how it was created and maintained and this is
essentially what makes a city so visually interesting, how people change it.
