This just started out as a test map for a new terrain system by Ydnar from Shaderlab. Then over time it has mutated into something else, an even bigger test map!. All these test map have been created for a game called Enemy Territory. I choose ET because its something I'm familiar with, as I worked on the game for about year with Splashdamage.

My plan is really to experiment with terrain landscapes, but in order to do this I really need some point of reference that everybody can understand. While working on ET I had access to the original maps for the RTCW game. I often did alot of test maps involving bits or sections of their maps so that I could get an idea of scale and size of things.

One of my all time favourite bits of RTCW was the boss1.map (Evil fat woman) The architecture is simply amazing and its a real shame you cannot explore this map more. One of my previous test map involved brushwork from the boss1 map. The plan was that it was going to be a broken down abbey next to a Axis radar installation. Due to lack of time it never became anything more than my test map.

So I took all the brushwork for the abbey and pasted it on top of the island. The original brushwork was really designed for one big room which you could not walk around. So the brushwork had to be simplify and the walls broken down so that you could fly around the ruins easier. Hopefully this prefab from RTCW will finally shine on top of my island overlooking the sea. The original credit for this section of the map is really the LD's at Grey Matter Studios.

Hopefully when I get some more free time I can update this page with more progress screenshots. I've got so many ideas and plans for this map that I need to focus on one thing first, the terrain. It was the original idea for starting this map in the first place!
